The 2012 Hanover Trade Fair, the world's largest and most influential industrial technology fair and known as the barometer of the global industry, opened on Sunday evening.

After 25 years when it first became the Hannover Messe's Partner Country, China once again distinguishes itself as the official partner country of the world's largest industrial exhibition, which is scheduled from April 23 to 27, and particularly focusing on the environmental technology and industry.

A total of 5,000 companies and associations from some 69 countries and regions around the world will occupy a total display area of more than 172,000 square meters. Nearly half of the exhibitors come from outside Germany.

Alongside China, the countries with the largest contingents of exhibitors include Italy, Turkey, France, Switzerland and the U.S. turned up at this year's Hannover Industrial Exposition.

Exhibitors at this year's event are demonstrating growth across the entire gamut of its featured fairs and themes, as it underscores the uniqueness of the event, and the fact that no other trade fair in the world is so closely in tune with the key issues affecting industry today.

China is teaming up the organizer to stage one of its largest showcase of its industrial power ever on foreign soil, as it accounts for some 500 exhibitors and displays covering a total of 9,000 square meters, hoping to get a strong boost to the country's trade, investment, technical exchanges and international co-operations.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel emphasized that China is, as a nation marked by dynamic growth, "particularly predestined to be honored as the official Partner Country at the world's largest industrial trade fair." From the outset, both governments lent their full support to the Partner Country initiative.

"China will be offering a spectacular presentation. Anyone interested in discovering more about this nation's rapid development into the top league of global economic powers or wanting to gain an overall picture of what to expect next from China will find the answers at the Hannover Messe", said Dr. Wolfram von Fritsch, Chairman of the Managing Board at Deutsche Messe in Hannover.

Under the theme of the "greentelligence" throughout this year's Hannover fair, as exhibitors from various industrial sectors are poised to demonstrate how the smart integration of efficient processes, eco-friendly materials and sustainable products will drive future market growth.

China's presentation, under the slogan of "green + intelligence", will also focus on sustainability and green industrial technology.

With energy reforms unleashing a surge of innovations, all signs point invariably to an exceptionally strong performance of this year's Hannover Industrial Fair.

"We are convinced that the upcoming Hannover Industrial 2012 is going to be a major success, as the timing of the fair couldn't be better: The ongoing debate on sustainability and the energy transition is kicking the world's industrial innovators into even higher gear," said Fritsch.

Industry stands committed to leveraging the opportunities posed by today's challenges, and the innovations on show at Hannover Industrial Fair will demonstrate that sustainability and the energy transition are technologically achievable, he added.

"Greentelligence", the leading theme for this year's fair, will epitomize companies sharpening their focuses on intelligent integration, streamlined processes, optimal and eco-friendly resource utilization and sustainable products, a combined approach that promises long-term competitiveness.

Powered by global debate addressing the topic of sustainable manufacturing as well as Germany's new energy policy, new technologies and trends have been gathering lots of added momentum.

Exhibitors at Hannover Industrial Fair will not only be showcasing the latest solutions across every field of industrial technology, but also unveiling what is just on the verge of market readiness
